iDousyn for iPad is Available for Free on the App Store

Thanks @freesoulvw for mentioning this to me: iDousyn for iPad is free. “iDousyn is a monophonic synthesizer which includes a voice recorder and a drum to complement the musical experience with a simple graphical interface for all general public.”
-App Store Description

Not sure if this works with the iPad Camera Connection Kit or if it even supports Core MIDI because that quote above is the entire description, but I think it is compatible with the CCK because it requires iOS 4.2 or up…

What Apps Need: SongCatcher

Posted this on the SongCatcher App Website:

Hello! I LOVE the idea behind this app. It’s sooooo perfect for iOS musicians. However, it’s Audio to MIDI conversion feature doesn’t work (at least for me). I was wondering when an update will come that will improve this feature… If you guys got that working to the point where all you’d have to do is correct a few minor mistakes in the piano roll, i’m sure a lot more people, my self included, would find the app more useful.
Thanks,
Sean

Hopefully we’ll see an update for the app soon. It’d be sooooo perfect for taking down ideas wherever you are…

UPDATE: They replied,

Hi Sean! You are in luck, we’ve just finished the update and are hopefully uploading to the store this week… We’ve put a fair bit of work into making the audio to MIDI process much easier to use! It does now take you to the piano roll as you suggest. We’ve also added undo functionality in the MIDI editor and now also offer MIDI exporting so you can use your MIDI work from SongCatcher in your home studio. Stay tuned….
Thanks for the nice words.John.

What Future Music Magazine has to Say about iOS Music Making

MoDrum and Bassline: What I’d like to see Next…

I was playing around with the two apps and really got to know each of them, they work great with each other by the way. There are some more features that I hope will be added in a future update that would really spice things up:

  • The ability to add multiple pitches on the same ‘step’ in Bassline.
  • More kits to choose from in MoDrum.
  • The ability to customize the drum tracks in MoDrum, and add multiple tracks of the same drum. Adding this would allow you to set up two patterns, played on the same drum, and switch between the two durring playback.
