These apps will continue to play via the background (multitasking) when you press the home button on your device and leave the app.

HUGE props to Peter over at One Red Dog for completely fixing the MIDI in his great Molten app, AND adding multitask support.
It now syncs perfectly with MoDrum and BassLine and Funkbox.

IRealB will also play in the background.
You should also post a list of which music apps will allow other music apps to play in the background.
For instance, I can have IRealB play an accompaniment in the background, and jam over it with Thumbjam. However, if I start Music Studio Lite while IrealB is playing, the music of the latter stops.
For background music playing to work, foreground apps have to accept it. Which do, and which do not?

yesssss… Garage Band for iOS 1.3 update came out 20sep. It now plays in the background.
You have to ask it to play nice with other music apps. Go to settings and select “Run in Background”. Also turn on “Use with Music Apps.”
