The Mobile POD (App Store link) and Mobile In (Musicians Friend) from Line 6 offer a solid high quality (dock) interface for guitars and other instruments. The one thing it doesn’t offer though, is a line out… Somewhat of a let down if you were looking to preform, because you’ll be stuck with your iPhone’s headphone jack. This will probably never happen (considering how big of a company Line 6 is) but it’d be nice for an in-app-purchase to be added allowing use with other iOS interfaces. It’d probably be no less than $19.99 (the usual cost of gear simulation apps) as you would be avoiding Line 6′s deal: get our interface and you don’t have to buy the app. If you think about it though, that’s pretty fair because there are no in-app-purchases in the Mobile POD, so you’d only be spending $80 total (the cost of the interface). It’s just that line out that’s bugging me… Line 6 did release a 2nd version of their original Line 6 MIDI Mobilizer, so who knows, maybe we’ll be blessed with a Mobile In II…
The Mobile POD app is only compatible with the Mobile In, but you can still download it to see all the gear.

JapUp Pro (currently %50 off: $9.99) is the best guitar/bass multi-effect processor app for iOS. I’m not the only one who thinks so, check out its iTunes reviews… As of 12/26/11 (when this post was published) it’s ‘Current Version’ and ‘All Versions’ ratting are both 5/5 stars!
UPDATE: This can actualy be done! If you look closely in the very beginning when I drag the amp off of the signal path, it slides right back to it’s original location, but turns gray. Making it inactive…
The one thing it needs though, is the option to not use an amp in the app. Then you’d be able to output your interface into your own amp. Now some interfaces, like Line 6′s Mobile In, don’t have an line out, but if you’re using the Camera Connection Kit and an audio interface, this is definitely possible. Anyway, the developers probably won’t add this, as it is somewhat of a small request, but I bet a lot of people would do it if they knew they could…
