BeatMaker 2 v2.3 update – Beta sneak peek

Update: Intua has posted the full 2.3 feature list here!

As if BeatMaker 2 wasn’t awesome enough, Intua is adding audio tracks and lots more in v2.3!

Here’re some screen shots I took of the beta version:

This is going to be fantastic! There aren’t really any hip hop/electronic based sequencer apps that have audio recording, so I think this update will be a huge plus. Hip hop artists are already using BeatMaker to make full length albums and then mixing, editing, and recording the vocals on their desktop DAWs. Now, with the addition of audio recording, BeatMaker 2 could potentially become a complete on the go production app – or at least a way to quickly lay down vocals or instruments over a track while you’re touring/on the go…

Version 2.3 will be a free update – complete feature list coming soon…

Was just using the chop lab on this last nite and thinking that if this had Eden that
It would be the best iOS daw, these new features will give nano studio
a serious run for its money
    Great stuff!!

Someone please explain the wizardry of wires in that first photo. The end result is obviously amazing: xlr mic recording into BM2. What do the other elements do and what are they? (belkin? m-audio?)

iPad is plugged into cck, which is plugged into a powered usb hub (only b/c of iOS power limitations; they don’t want people connecting power sucking devices and then complaining about their iDevices battery life) which is then plugged into the audio interface, which has the sm-57 plugged into it.

lots of wites, but still pretty portable…

Yes, well done Intua. But I wish you’d fix those bugs still present in BM, instead of just adding even more features. :)

Kudos to Intua for pushing the boundaries of iOS DAWs. Still, I wish they didn’t bundle hundreds of MB of mediocre undeletable samples with the app, as it makes downloading updates a pain and they just end up taking up space.

Also, I wish they’d adopt Sonoma AudioCopy/Paste, as virtually every high quality iOS music app has.

There are some apps you can get that will ‘bridge the gap’ between sonoma’s ACP and Intua’s general pasteboard:

NanoStudio: obviously, don’t buy it just for this (it is a kick ass app though) but if you’ve already got the app just paste something into a TRG (drum) pad and then copy it as Sonoma

AudioView by Audioforge Labs: a cheaper option, $2.99

These are the only one’s i know of right now…

Was about to get Multitrack DAW, but seems like audio tracks in BM2 makes it a full multitrack editor? Can you have per channel FX (eq, compressor etc)?

That, combined with Audiobus… will be AWESOME !
This already does what my MPC does, even better. Of course, doesn’t compare with my MPC1K, as that’s hardware, but WOW.

I use BM a lot, and being able to put some Sunrizer synth loops, or guitars directly on an audio track is a bliss.
