What if that app had iCloud…

Since there’s only one music app with iCloud support (GarageBand) I thought I’d make a lost of apps that could enormously benefit from iCloud…

  • NanoStudio, BeatMaker 2, Music Studio – No more NanoSync or Dropboxing a project from your iPhone to iPad, everything would just be everywhere!
  • MoDrum – Beats synced across devices! No more “oh, that one’s on my iPad…”
  • Jam Up Pro – Tone preset packs synced across devices!
  • Universal synth apps – No more preset emailing!
  • If there’s an app you really wish had iCloud, comment if below!

Developers, if this seems like a desperate hint at iCloud support, it is.

You get the same benefit with Dropbox. Save it and its everywhere. With the extra benefit that I have never lost any files on Dropbox while that’s still a more regular occurrence on iCloud.

I would much rather see Dropbox implemented too. I can access all my data from windows, Mac, and Linux with Dropbox very easily. With iCloud I would be restricted to the Mac and iOS platform for managing the data.

icloud… no thanks , the less reliance on apple stuff – the better imho, i cant even get icloud to work most of the time, dropbox works great, poor idea mate.

I also far prefer Dropbox since it’s platform neutral and allows me to collaborate with others, too. ICloud may be wonderful inside its own little iOS bubble but I’d rather leave my options open. I have Dropbox installed on my Macs and have access to it on a couple of Windows machines, neother of whoch have iTunes installed. It’s gloriously wonderful in that sense, available everywhere no matter what you’re running.

I love the idea of iCloud, just have everything everywhere, but in practice it seems really unreliable. It is very unApple-like in its shoddy implementation. It doesn’t “just work” half the time.

It can’t even get Game Saves to sync right, so I wouldn’t trust it for professional applications.

iCloud- maybe… But iTunes file sharing is an absolute must for BM2 I think. Dropbox and FTP are spotty!

Dropbox support would be nice for every iOS music app out there.

Not music related but I really wish TomTom would have iCloud support for the favourites.. it’s so annoying having to manually add them on iPad, iPhone, iPhone, etc..

as far as i know, Dropbox doesn’t automatically sync you files across devices, that’s the main reason I’d really like iCloud, Dropbox is much more open though

I was thinking of iCloud more as a way to sync across devices, not necessarily for backing up, Dropbox is better in that regard because like you said you can access files on Windows/linux too

both would be cool, but the great thing about iCloud is that it’s automatic: you don’t have to remember to back stuff up, if Dropbox did that, iCloud would be out of the picture for me
