Another app to app MIDI collaboration idea previewed on the Shoulda Woulda Coulda Vimeo Channel. This time, we’ve got one app controlling another, but with both of them sounding. Obviously, this will be useful if you want two tones sounding at the same time. But, you could get creative with the controls offerend in each synth app and come up with all kinds of new sounds. For example, turning the decay up on one synth, and down on the other would cause one of them to sound until you release, and the other to die quickly after you play; like the two synths sounded in the video. Considering all of the types of tones you an get out of a synth app like Sunrizer, this opens the door to tons of possibilities!
Video Description:
“If you’ve been following our recent videos (vimeo.com/27918905) you know that pretty soon a lot of your music apps are going to start working together. We got our hands on a beta copy of Sunrizer, which will add support for virtual MIDI. In this video, we improvise a little song with polychord, using both apps at the same time.”

This is a genius idea! I hope SoundPrism Pro gets updated with the ability to control other apps like this!

You may be wondering, what is the difference between this and Core MIDI clock sync…
Well, this allows you to actually play the synths and have other apps play with you! With clock sync, you could only have MIDI sequences playing themselves.
I gotta say, this is a huge step forward…
