Safe to go with iOS 6?

Postby Upright » Sun Oct 21, 2012 7:23 pm

Hey guys,

I have purposely been putting off upgrading to iOS 6 mainly because I use several iPad apps in my compositions and I didn't want to run the risk of not being able to use my iPad.

So I guess my question is this-

Will all of my apps work if I upgrade to iOS 6 or will they need to be brought up to speed by devs to work with iOS 6 before I can use them?

Just curious..

Thanks :D

Don't do it, it depends on the app but iOS 6 is not even worth updating even if the app works, i haven't updated but i've heard really bad things and don't even want to update because, like i said there's nothing new really...

also: iOS 6 broke all of the the strange agency's app if you were wondering about any of them.

I'll throw up a tweek asking for people to post what apps work/don't work here...

Thanks so much for the response! I'm glad I didn't upgrade. I'll wait a while...there's no rush to do it now anyway.

Thanks again! :D

I just got a new iPad which comes with iOS 6. I have successfully run the following:

GarageBand
Alchemy
Addictive Synth
SampleTank
iGrand Piano (although crashed after switching pianos a few times)
Magellan
NodeBeat HD
genome MIDI Sequencer

Yesterday I had genome sequencer controlling both SampleTank drums and Alchemy. At first, I was getting crackling from Alchemy when I would play directly from the genome keyboard (though oddly no crackling when it was playing the sequenced notes). I had Alchemy's Virtual MIDI latency set to 'high' so I changed it to 'medium' and the problem went away.

This is what I've tried so far.

Recently (iOS 6) I've had Genome work fine except trying to save (export) a song, you give it a name press button and crash. However, this is as of Nov 11, 2012, for all I know an update comes out tomorrow.

I've also had iFretless Bass crash on startup in iOS6 but again, could be fixed any day or its my setup (though its both iPhone and iPad versions, reinstall does nothing.

One off-topic P.S. - I still have an old iPhone 1 with a working Noise.io on it, Yea!!! (But my old iPhone 3GS is a no go, good old iPhone 1 ;)
