SynthX, one of my most used (also as effect device for audio input). But I'm not sure if that one was released this year, maybe 2011.

problem is, I only know a few. I voted for PPG WG, because it was the most surprising and innovative synth app this year.

Is there a way we can choose 3 and let the chips fall where they may? Having only 1 vote quantizes the results too much...

This seems like a flawed approach. I can think of at least 9 I would put equally on top.

Here are the apps that most inspire me this year in the order they inspire me but all pretty equal in my mind. Alot are not even on this list. (though I guess maybe a few of these may not be classed as "synthesizers"?):
