Dubspot's Tracker Pro: Sampler & Synths is a full production app for iPad: a tracker grid, a vintage-minded sampler, built-in synthesizers, effects, AUv3 hosting, song arrangement, and WAV export in one workspace. It is iPad-only, needs iPadOS 17 or later, and is sold as a one-time App Store purchase. The product overview lives on the Tracker Pro page; Music Tech Tips covered the App Store launch on 3 October 2026.

Why a tracker on iPad

A tracker writes music as rows of notes and commands, with each track in its own column. Pitch, velocity, and step effects for a drum hit sit next to the bass and chord parts, so you can read a pattern as clearly as you play it. Tracker Pro supports up to 16 tracks, patterns up to 128 rows, and (as of version 1.1) up to eight FX slots per step. A step can retrigger a snare, glide a bass note, switch which sample slice plays, or stack chance and groove commands. Chords can hold up to six notes.

Enter notes with touch, the on-screen keys, or shortcuts from an external typing keyboard. Hardware-keyboard shortcuts are also searchable from Settings, and the built-in guide (Settings → Open Guide) walks the first-hour workflow.

Vintage sampling and kits

Import audio or record in the app, then slice by transients, equal parts, or by hand. Sequence those slices as individual hits. Vintage playback modes give classic sampler character: Modern for a clean path, plus Amiga, M3000, and SP12 flavors (with bit depth, sample rate, and interpolation still available by hand). Stretch uses an S950-style cycle-splice approach so you can change length and texture without leaving the instrument.

Version 1.1 lets a single Sampler hold a whole kit: add files or a folder, then choose which sample each note plays. Random sample and random slice keep hi-hats and break edits from repeating exactly. Sample Crate pulls sounds from the web, your files, and videos, and can extract audio from a clip in Files or Photos — only sample material you have the rights to use.

Synths, grains, and AUv3

Built-in instruments cover Macro (24 engines spanning virtual analog, FM, wavetable, physical modeling, and synthesized drums), Resonator for tuned physical-model tones, and GrainOSC, a playable grain instrument with 12 wavetable banks. Granular FX and Ambient Reverb bring Mutable Instruments Beads-style grain processing into the effect chain (open-source Plaits, Rings, and Beads DSP under the MIT License; Mutable Instruments is not affiliated with Dubspot).

Host compatible AUv3 instruments and effects on any track. Sequence an Audio Unit from the tracker, or drop an effect into a track's device chain. Plug-in state saves with the project. MIDI in (USB, Bluetooth, virtual) and MIDI Out with control lanes cover external gear.

From pattern to finished mix

Arrange patterns into song sections, balance levels and pan in the mixer, and use sends for shared effects. Export a WAV master mix and individual track stems through Files or Share. Projects are self-contained, with autosave and crash recovery.

Dubspot's suggested first session: open the included STARTER 148 pattern, change a few notes, hear those edits in the song, then replace an instrument or slice a recording of your own. For help after that, the Tracker Pro support page covers audio routes, MIDI, Audio Units, and recovery.

Version 1.1 highlights

Tracker Pro launched on the App Store in late September 2026. Version 1.1 (19 October 2026) is the current feature set to know:

  • GrainOSC, Granular FX, and Ambient Reverb
  • Sample Crate web/file/video sampling
  • Multi-sample kits plus random sample/slice
  • Up to eight FX slots per step (26 step commands in the listing)
  • Redesigned device panels (light and dark)

Existing owners get 1.1 as a free App Store update.

Price and where to get it

Tracker Pro is available now on the App Store for iPad (iPadOS 17+), as a one-time purchase with no account and no subscription. Check the current price on the App Store listing and see screenshots plus the full feature walkthrough on dubspot.com/tracker-pro.

If you are comparing iPad trackers this year, Dubspot also points to the Dirtywave M8 on iOS as the other major option; Tracker Pro is the sampling-, kit-, and grain-forward path in that conversation.
